She Loves to Code - Special Edition
Yesterday on 18/3/25, at She Loves to Code - Special Edition Women's History Month, we co-hosted an inspiring panel and gathered an amazing group of women tech entrepreneurs to share their journeys, challenges, and insights.
Moderated by our Founder, Rein Meirte, the panel discussion sparked conversations about building a business in tech, navigating obstacles, and driving innovation. Missed the event or want a refresher?
Invited to the panel were:
Maxence Thillaye du Boullay, founder and CEO of Outsight Studio
Cindy Smits, Founder of Digitale Wolven & General Manager CoderDojo Belgium
Bo Vande Sompele, co-founder Plainsight
Here are 10 key takeaways from this empowering evening at Campus 19 in Brussels:
Take the Leap, Even When It's Scary. Many of the panelists started their businesses without a safety net. There's never a "perfect" time. Just start.
Embrace Your Unique Path. Some transitioned from traditional tech roles, while others jumped in headfirst. There's no one right way to build a business.
Imposter Syndrome Is Normal, But Don't Let It Define You. Even successful founders struggle with self-doubt. Keep going despite the fear.
You Don't Need to Know Everything. Tech evolves rapidly, and no one knows it all. Focus on problem-solving and continuous learning instead of perfection.
Be Yourself. Authenticity Wins! Trying to fit into the "corporate mold" can hold you back. Confidence in your own style and approach is a game-changer.
Community & Mentorship Matter. Many founders wished they had mentors earlier. Seek out supportive networks and be a mentor when you can.
Challenge Bias in Hiring & Leadership. Companies need to actively create spaces for women in tech, from clear job descriptions to fair pay structures.
Balance Is Hard, But Define It Your Way. Work-life balance in entrepreneurship is tricky. Set your own boundaries and find what works for you.
Diverse Teams Make a Difference. Women in leadership foster inclusion. Surround yourself with a team that shares your values. Be the manager you find inspiring, or be the opposite of what you hated when you were employee!
Just Start, and Keep Learning. Whether through volunteering, side projects, or small steps, momentum is key. You'll learn and grow along the way.
Big thank you for hosting this workshop day and the panel during the evening to the whole team of Campus 19!
