Book Showcase: 'Women in Tech' by Laurence Jacobs

Laurence Jacobs, Women in Tech ambassador and Business Relations officer at Agoria, wrote her second book this year. Why she wrote it and what she learned from it she was happy to share with us. You can find a short recap below! πŸ“–

Earlier this year, Laurence Jacobs released her book "Women in Tech" to map the landscape of the #tech world. During our online event on Sept. 15, she dove into the evolution of tech careers, her motivation for writing this book and what she learned from it.

Her book reveals 5 pillars, each of which leverages more diversity and inclusion in the tech world. In it, Laurence shares the vision of the importance of tech to both give everyone the opportunity to have an economically stable career, where there is a lot of growth opportunity; and to give everyone the chance to see what kind of impact you can make with tech, one of the sectors that will most determine what tomorrow's world will look like.

The 5 pillars Laurence cited are:

  • Digital Skills: training and upskilling initiatives aimed at girls and women.

  • Inclusive Company Cultures: working toward inclusion within companies.

  • Role Models & Representation: showcasing different types of role models so that an image can emerge that people want to aspire to.

  • Supporting Female Entrepreneurs: encouraging investors to focus more on women.

  • Inspiring the Next Generation: working with schools and youth initiatives.

Here are the slides from the presentation.πŸ–±οΈ

In the book you will find concrete lists of organizations that contribute to these 5 pillars, from educational institutions, DEI experts to networking organizations (Yes, Clusity is in there too! :D). You can buy the book at this link!

Would you like to be there, too? Check out our upcoming events here or subscribe to the newsletter to stay up to date!
