On Thursday, November 3, during the Open School Days at the University of Antwerp, we will provide an exciting evening with 5 keynotes from women engineers and an inspiring, interactive networking session. So are you studying industrial sciences or considering becoming an industrial engineer? Or do you work in STEM? Then be sure to come and listen to a fun evening at the University of Antwerp together with Clusity, the platform for women in tech!
Speaker 1: Sandy Jorens, lecturer & researcher at the University of Antwerp
Sandy Jorens works as a lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Applied Engineering at the University of Antwerp. Her studies as an industrial engineer in electromechanics and various work experiences, both nationally and internationally, have helped her gain a broader insight into her abilities and interests. In her keynote, she shares with you how she can fully indulge herself professionally and socially today.
Speaker 2: Laila Bougria, senior software engineer at Particular Software
Laïla Bougria is a software engineer at Particular Software. She has a passion for software and has built up her experience at companies such as SD WORX, Compuware, Bank J. Van Breda and has also been business manager of her bvba Igindo for over 10 years. Laïla is always looking for patterns, both in code and in yarn. In her free time, she loves to knit or crochet and to spend time with her children playing whatever the day brings!
Speaker 3: Keshia Niemegeerts, Managing Partner at Optis
Keshia is a Managing Partner at Optis (part of The Cronos Group). Together with her team, she helps organizations develop digital ambitions by building applications. Because of her interest in science and IT, she chose to study industrial engineering in electronics-ICT . After several years in the electronics sector, she made the switch to IT. Before becoming Managing Partner, she worked as a developer for several clients. How that all worked out, she tells us in her inspiring talk! 🚀
Speaker 4: Kristel Demotte, Global VP Data Solutions at Cegeka
Kristel Demotte is Global Vice President Data Solutions at Cegeka, a self-made woman and mother of three. Kristel has mapped out her own career path by holding various ICT positions in quick succession. She will tell us what it means to be a developer, consultant, project manager, service delivery manager, presales and sales, unit manager, unit director and finally Global Vice President. Kristel was elected this year by DataNews as the new Belgian ICT Woman of the Year 2022. We eagerly await her inspiring story!
Speaker 5: Sarah Lebeer, research professor of Microbiology at the University of Antwerp
With more than 10 years as a research professor at the University of Antwerp, within the Department of Bioengineering, Sarah Lebeer coordinates the Laboratory of Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology. She is currently working on the research project 'Isala' where she and her team are putting the microscope to the microbiome of the vagina! Sarah shines some light for us on life as a researcher, the importance of women scientists and her ambitions for the future!
