When we think of negotiating, we often think of men in tailored suits who try to reach an agreement in the middle of the night. That image is wrong: we all negotiate, all the time. Stephanie Blommaert tells us during the lecture about her experience with negotiating. She complements this with real-life examples taken from home and work and gives you tips to apply immediately to your next negotiation.
Via the Negotiation training (inspired by the Harvard method), Stephanie herself came into contact with negotiating. She gives training courses in negotiation, is a guest speaker and is a business coach at Vlerick Business School. Her soft spot is emotions and psychology in negotiations. In November 2021, her first book was published: "Negotiating with love : daring to ask questions in your daily life, at home and at work".
Content lecture
With our children we negotiate about screen time, with our partner about household chores, with friends about that weekend away, with colleagues about the division of tasks, with the boss about our wages, with a customer about offers, ...
However, we often do not dare ask for what we want: that me-time, that salary, that weekend away, a higher price, help. Wrongly so, because negotiation has an enormous impact on our daily lives.
Everyone knows that rational arguments are important, but we underestimate the role of the person behind the negotiator, the emotions and the psychology involved in negotiating and which can make or break a negotiation.
The book "You negotiate with love too" is about asking for what you want in a human way, with attention for emotions and the relationship with the other person. Discover which negotiation types there are and learn about their strengths and weaknesses.

Location: dunden
The City of Antwerp wants to offer start-ups and scale-ups every opportunity to start, grow and internationalise. In addition to offering affordable office space for start-ups and scale-ups, the renovated Dunden innovation hub will also focus strongly on community collaboration. Because knowledge institutions, incubators and investors are located in or near the building, Dunden is the absolute centre of Antwerp's start-up landscape.
Clusity is very proud to be able to give this interesting lecture at dunden. The great team at dunden has decided to co-host this event. For questions about the location and operation, please contact Margot Hermans .
