A short 'afterwork'
Prejudice and bias is a human reflex. Without bias we would not be able to navigate in society. We cannot live without it, but often make unconscious and unfounded judgements. The impact of this is huge, as for example on the topic of women in tech.
The fact that we have a (subconscious) tendency to like and trust people who look like us more quickly has an impact on our decision to recruit talents.
Indeed, objectivity in judging people does not exist. Yet we regularly hear statements that make it clear how unconscious this bias often is:
"I don't make a difference, I just see people."
"We don't look at gender, we look at talent and knowledge."
"Women just don't like to be involved in technical things."
During this workshop, we expose some of these unconscious judgements. How do you look at the world and what are the consequences? What can you do to be aware of it? With a nice mix of theory and some practical exercises, we make unconscious bias, conscious.
