Summer is coming, so to start off right, we were itching to put on an event for our entire community with inspiring talks we just wanted to hear ourselves. 😎

On this enchanting summer evening, we proudly present "The Women in Tech Summer Gathering"! 1: 🌹 The Tallest Poppy by Samia Elyakhlifi & Oana Pasalau-Cioaba

Are you familiar with the phenomenon the "Tall Poppy Syndrome"? It is a cultural and social phenomenon that quietly affects the work environment and impacts impact makers in their personal and professional lives. Let's join Samia and Oana in exploring the hidden costs of success and underscore the importance of an environment where people can openly flourish.

Who are Samia and Oana?

Samia Elyakhlifi, a Belgian entrepreneur with Moroccan roots, is passionate about creating an inclusive & abundance mindset in the workplace to drive innovation. After 18 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, where she gained expertise in future-proofing the clinical research environment, she recently took the plunge and started her own company. As an ICF-certified coach, her goal is to help leaders and employees empower themselves and create impact in this VUCA world.

Oana Pasalau-Cioaba is a resilient mompreneur who balances motherhood and entrepreneurship with creativity. With her Romanian heritage, passion for history and languages, and her discovered superpower of inner resilience, she spreads the importance of self-awareness and self-care. A passionate entrepreneur, ICF-certified coach, and with years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, she helps others experience effortless professional success and personal happiness.


2: 🤖 Explainable AI, PhD Research by Saja Tawalbeh

Meet the research of Saja, the speaker of this inspiring keynote on Explainable AI. She will focus on model interpretation, or understanding what and how an AI model learns. In addition, she will talk about "Explanation," explaining what AI makes decisions based on and justifying them. Discover how this knowledge helps us better understand complex models and build confidence in the decisions they make (or don't make 😛). Saja will explain in an accessible way how these techniques make AI models more transparent.

Who is Saja?

Saja Tawalbeh works as a PhD candidate at IDLab (UAntwerpen-imec). She had an experience with natural language processing (NLP). She gained that experience as a researcher at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). In 2021, she joined IDLab as a PhD researcher specializing in the field of explainable AI. In recent years, she has focused on model interpretation (understanding what a model has learned) and explanation (justifying the decisions made by a network), particularly focusing on networks inherently by design.

Jenny's journey into the world of tech may not have seemed predestined on paper, but the allure of challenges and the transformative power of technology and innovation drew her in. Embracing the opportunities that technology provides, Jenny has embarked on a path that allows her to create impactful solutions and shape the future through her entrepreneurial endeavors. Through determination and a passion for innovation, Jenny has defied expectations and found her calling in the exciting realm of technology.

Who is Jenny?

Meet Jenny Ambukiyenyi Onya, a leading pioneer in the field of Artificial Intelligence. With over 13 years of experience in IT consulting and as Managing Partner and Head of Product & Operations at Fit-For-Purpose Technologies SRL (Belgium) and Neotex SARL (DR Congo), Jenny leads visionary AI products and promotes socio-economic progress by creating digital solutions. She inspires women to embrace their potential and believe in the power of hard work and perseverance.



4: 📢 Mastering Linkedin for your Success by Elke Kraemer

In this keynote, Elke offers valuable insights for women (tech) professionals who want to get ahead in their careers by using LinkedIn effectively. Elke shares unique viewpoints based on frequent conversations with women seeking careers in technology.

Who is Elke?

If you know Clusity, you probably know Elke Kraemer! She is one of the founders of Clusity, an inspiring network for women in technology, and as a platform they support technology companies in their efforts to increase diversity and inclusion. In addition, Elke is also a co-founder of InspiringFifty Belgium, a non-profit pan-European program that identifies, encourages, develops and presents leading women within the technology sector. In 2022, she was nominated as top 3 for ICT Woman of The Year.
